Monday, December 12, 2005Today I went to Orchard, Gothe Institute and Dr Sharpley's place to film... It was tiring as expected but still quite fun... Mel and Frez gladly obliged to being filmed and interviewed..Thanks darlings! It was nice to hang out with them again... Afterward, we went to Goethe and filmed some shots of me and the principal then we went to Youth Park to get Mel's interview done... Singapore is really small... I bumped into my German teacher, Katrin there!
I went to Amanda's masterclass at Dr Sharpley's place later that afternoon... It was pretty cool... Amanda was teaching us about lyricism and how it is actually within us and how we can achieve it... I sang "Die Warnung" by Mozart... I love that song! :)
Dr Sharpley is really nice! He's really accomplished but he's really humble... I also met the conductor Darryl Ong there... After the masterclass Abi and I hung out and teased each other... Haha... She's a great kid... :)
I just wanna blog about my thoughts on lyricism... I think that lyricism can only be achieved when an artist falls into their song and performs with their heart... Only when you bare your soul when you perform will you actually be doing justice to your music. It is intense and beautiful. It is lyricism in its full glory. It is universal. There are no boundries, languages or colours dividing it. That is what lyricism means to me. I hope that every time I perform, I can be lyrical, to be able to reach out and touch the audience, to be able to bare my soul. That is definitely the mark of a true performer.
